Social networks are taking over many of the traditional functions of government without any legal protections for their citizens. The underlying economic goal of social networks… When David Cameron became Britain’s prime minister, he made an appointment to talk to another head of state — Mark Zuckerberg. Yes, that Mark Zuckerberg: the billionaire wunderkind, the founder of Facebook. At the meeting at 10 Downing Street, Prime Minister Cameron and Facebook president Zuckerberg discussed ways in which social networks could take over certain governmental duties and inform public policymaking.

Once upon a time there was a company called Market America. I got tired of my friends and me getting hassled by them but I’m just a little guy. A pee in the pod. But I’m not a sucker. I’m a developer/designer. A hybrid if you will and a lover of UI and the arts. I build sites for everyone and it just happens that the other day I finished a custom Magento site for a client so I’m really, really exceptionally familiar with the entire Magento systems that eBay purchased back in early June of 2011. So yesterday when a dear friend of mine is talking to me about a business proposal I decided to hear him out. I’m always looking to help out even if I do free work because I believe what comes around goes around. I believe that if you give love, you get love. And if I work hard enough putting love into my work, one day I’ll get rewarded. Let me be completely clear. I love. I do. But I absolutely hate Market America and their f*ckin deception and lies. And this one trumps them all.

So my friend starts talking to me about their web development and how simple it is. It actually isn’t WordPress is still better and free. Then he mentions that it comes with a built in ecommerce thingamajig. I love THINGAMAJIGS!! I tell thim let’s press the buttons!! Weeeee!! This is awesome. Inside my brain I’m thinking of all the CMS I’ve ever touched, Joomla, Drupal, Textpattern, WordPress, OpenCart, I mean it’s a long list. I’ve touched every-single-CMS-Shopping-Cart known to man. So he opens his browser and I say, let’s start with the shopping cart please. He shows me the MA Webcenters and I go straight into shock as I see Magento’s front end Dashboard with a different colored interface but all the same application tabs.

I think to myself, ok, maybe it’s free, but it’s not, it’s $35 a month!

So let’s talk Magento for a bit. There’s three versions of Magento, Magento GO which you pay Magento $50 a month for, Magento Community which is completely free and Magento Enterprise which costs $12,000. None of these licenses allow you to resell the system to my knowledge since “Open Source” usually means free. But I guess Market America said F*ck THis and decided to just do whatever the hell they wanted. This annoys me, their emails annoy me they annoy me. I want Market America to be GONE. I’m hoping eBay will finally be my way to get them to disappear with a large enough lawsuit because this is really embarrassing to see my friends being taken advantage of and Market America reselling something in a pyramid scheme that is making them money selling open source software (because my friend is paying for this)!

So what do you think.

Should Market America be allowed to just resell free, open source software with a monthly fee?
Here’s some screen shot of their f*ckin software. Excuse my language but if this was my software, I’d be so pissed.

Yesterday, we accomplished one major change when President Obama announced that all American troops in Iraq will be home before the holidays. With that action, the Iraq war will end. And one of the President’s central promises will have been kept.

I was off of Facebook and Twitter for about a month. Somehow I reacquainted myself with old friends, made new friends, made more money, learned more things and was less annoyed with myself. I went back to see what was going on, what I had missed but didn’t feel the same need to reconnect in [...]

shit

Shit doesn’t happen, it gets made. It gets made by people like you and me and, well, everyone else. Usually when people say “Shit Happens” it’s usually someone else’s fault, like God or some idiot that wasn’t paying attention. But in book The Art of Judo they say that if shit happens, it’s your fault [...]

Someone at Mozilla was high as they designed and built the new Firefox 4. And I believe they were using mushrooms this time. For some unknown reason they decided to move around tabs, add pop-ups to every single page -even to the page loading status and hide the home button. In fact if you press [...]
